Imagine your brand as a superhero team, each member representing a principle that defines their actions and interactions. These members have to work together as a team to achieve their goals - fight bad guys, protect the world, and represent the greater good!

Your values are the set of principles that define your brand’s actions and interactions. Within great brands, these aren’t just words printed on a dusty poster hung in the back office. They’re a vital tool, serving as a compass that keeps you true to your purpose and vision, even in the face of uncertainty. Your values work together collectively to help you grow your business in the right direction, towards your greater goals.

For instance, let me share with you my guiding lights (my values):

1. Growth

“I thrive on pushing the boundaries of creativity, embracing the unknown, and stepping out of my comfort zone to evolve continuously.”

What does this mean? It means that I’m not putting my brand in a box. I know that growth comes through the challenge of the unknown. So if an opportunity arises for me to take a project outside of my comfort zone, I don’t need to shy away from it.

2. Confidence

“I'm driven to empower individuals to stand out boldly, make their mark in their respective industries, and exude confidence in their unique identity.”

How do I use this as a tool for my business?  As I build offerings for my brand, I pack them with value to make the purchasing decision a no-brainer for my clients. When I consider adding to or expanding upon my offerings, I ask myself, “Will this addition help my clients be more confident in growing their brands?”. If the answer is yes, then I know I’m headed the right direction.

3. Care

“Beyond aesthetics, I'm committed to creating work that not only looks good but also makes a meaningful impact on the world, fostering care and compassion in every project.”

How does this guide business decisions? I'm discerning about the projects I undertake. Occasionally, I encounter opportunities that don't align with my values or where there's just not a good fit. And that's alright! Meeting with potential clients upfront ensures enjoyable collaborations and fosters long-term relationships. Similarly, declining projects that don't align offers those businesses the chance to connect with a designer who does!
