Save Time By Creating Your Canva Brand Kit

Do you ever feel like time is your worst enemy? Between keeping your socials active, updating marketing materials with your latest offerings, and running day-to-day operations, building a brand can feel like a never-ending race against the clock.

My theme this year is organization and automation. I’m out here trying to tip the scales of time in my favor. Here's a quick tip that can save you a TON of time on the marketing side if you're using one of my favorite time-saving design apps, Canva.

This week, we're diving into how you can streamline your design process and maintain brand consistency by setting up a "Brand Kit" in Canva. By uploading your brand assets like logos, colors, fonts, and more, you'll make designing a breeze and free up time for the things that really matter.

What is a Canva Brand Kit?

A Canva Brand Kit is your one-stop-shop for all your brand essentials. It allows you to store and organize your brand’s visual elements in one place, so you can access them quickly and keep your designs consistent.

Why Set Up a Brand Kit

BE EFFICIENT

Save time by having all your brand assets readily available.

As you work on social posts, brochures, or letterheads, you’ll be able to access your Brand Kit right in your working doc. No more having to hunt down your asset folder and drag and drop your way to export.

BE CONSISTENT

Ensure all your designs reflect your brand’s identity.

This is the equivalent of always having your brand guidelines with you, knowing the exact font, colors, logos, and illustrations you need are just a side-bar away.

COLLABORATE EASILY

Easily share your brand assets with team members or collaborators.

As your brand grows, being able to invite designers or partners to your Canva account is a huge plus. They’ll be able to hop in, immediately gain access to your well-organized brand assets, and get straight to work.

How to Set Up Your Canva Brand Kit

Gather these items to set up your Brand Kit under Canva’s “Brand” folder -

UPLOAD YOUR LOGOS

Add all variations of your logos (full color, black and white, icons, etc.) to Canva. This makes it easy to drag and drop them into any design.

DEFINE YOUR BRAND COLORS

Enter your brand’s hex codes into the color palette section. This ensures you always use the same palette to represent your brand.

CHOOSE YOUR FONTS

Upload your brand fonts or choose from Canva’s library. Set your heading, subheading, and body text fonts to maintain consistency across all your materials.

INCLUDE YOUR BRAND VOICE

Add a section for your brand’s tone. This can include keywords, phrases, or guidelines on how to communicate your brand’s message.

This is all about how you talk to your audience - Are you casual and friendly? professional and trustworthy? playful and quirky?

ADD YOUR GRAPHICS AND ICONS

Upload any specific graphics or icons that are part of your brand’s visual identity. This could include custom illustrations, patterns, or other elements that make your brand unique.

Pro Tip

CREATE TEMPLATES

Design templates for social media posts, presentations, or any recurring design needs using your brand assets. This will save you even more time in the long run.
